Henry condemns Iranian oil tanker attacks

Henry has recently spoken out in the House of Commons against Iran’s illegal attacks on oil tankers in international waters. Henry intervened during an Urgent Question to Dr Andrew Murrison MP, Minister of State for the Middle East, on the Gulf of Oman Oil Tanker Attacks.

Commenting Henry said: “This is a deeply worrying development at a time of already significant tensions in the region. It is almost certain that a branch of the Iranian military, most likely the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, carried out these attacks. Indeed, the Government have stated no other actor could plausibly have been responsible.”

“I very much welcomed the Minister’s response to my intervention and entirely agree with him that we have to deal with a variety of regimes across the world. Nevertheless, this sort behaviour is completely unacceptable, and what is now obviously needed is fundamental change in the Iranian regime.”
