“The announcement of a £679,000 Government Grant to our local council as part of the Coastal Communities Fund is very welcome news indeed. Although our local economy is doing very well I am delighted that the Government are reinforcing this success with a significant grant to help leisure sailing in and around King’s Lynn, and to also help Hunstanton Town Council in their quest to help bring in better signage.” That was the view of Henry Bellingham MP for North West Norfolk.
Henry went onto say: “I have been lobbying the Government hard for this money, and although it is not a “game changing” amount, nevertheless it is very welcome.”
“It is also positive news that some money is going to be awarded to the restoration of the Sommerfield and Thomas Grade II listed warehouse.”
“Obviously our exceptionally beautiful and outstanding coastline is one of our most important assets, so when the Government also recognises this it is both heartening and encouraging.”
