Henry has expressed his delighted that Barclays has reversed its decision to prevent customers withdrawing money from the Post Office network.
Commenting Henry said: “I joined the campaign alongside over 100 MPs who were campaigning to persuade Barclays to put in place a rapid U-turn on their decision to axe cash withdrawals at Post Offices – I am delighted they have now done so. Indeed, the contract between the Post Office and Barclays provides both a vital income for struggling rural Post Offices and a vital lifeline for rural villages.”
“Obviously Barclay’s decision provoked great debate. Indeed, I was contacted by a great many of my constituents who were deeply concerned by Barclay’s original announcement, and I am certain, like me, they will welcome this announcement. Of course, it is excellent news Barclays have listened very carefully to the points that have been raised by Ministers, MPs and the public. By listening to our arguments Barclays has allowed us to safeguard access to cash for everyone who needs it.”
