Local MP expresses delight over King’s Lynn’s success in high streets fund

Commenting Henry  said: “I am really delighted that King’s Lynn has been selected to go forward into the second stage of the Future High Streets Fund (FHSF). Indeed, it is a great achievement they have made it to the business case development round and are going to be receiving up to £150,000 revenue grant to commission the full-scale report. This is a great credit to our local Borough Council and I was delighted that their initial bid was, as the Minister said, one of the very best.”

Henry went on to say: “High streets across the country are facing unprecedented challenges from the growth of out of town stores and the huge increase in online retailing. This is why the high street has to change and become more focused on niche retailers. Indeed, what we all want to see is for our local high street in King’s Lynn to become a destination in its own right, this does need a lot of imagination and some serious redesign.”

Henry also said: “Given that the initial scoping bid from the Borough Council was one of the very best received from across the country I am very confident that the Borough Council’s main bid will be successful. Indeed, this could be a key turning point for our town centre.”
