Henry Bellingham MP for North West Norfolk has expressed his delight at the news that Norfolk will receive just over £12.5million extra for highway maintenance and potholes.
Commenting Henry said: “This additional funding is very much welcome news, indeed it will certainly make a difference to a significant number of my constituents as potholes and highways maintenance are high on the public’s lists of concerns.”
“Incidentally, this is the biggest ever single cash injection of this kind to improve England’s roads and comes on top of £950million the Government are already providing to Council’s across the country for highways maintenance. Out of the £420 million of additional funding Norfolk’s allocation is one of the largest of anywhere in the country. This funding boost will help our council to repair potholes, keep local bridges and structures open and safe.”
“This will be especially welcome in the Marshland part of my constituency where many of the roads across the Fens have suffered significant subsistence.”
