MP Delighted with the Prime Minister’s support for CITB campaign

6th December

Henry said he was delighted the Prime Minister had given such strong support for his campaign in relation to the CITB during today’s PMQs.

Henry asked the Prime Minister: “Does she agree that, post-Brexit, it will be absolutely crucial that we enhance skills and apprenticeships in the construction and housing sector? Does she also agree that now is not the time for the Construction Industry Training Board to be proposing to close its site at Bircham in West Norfolk, putting at risk 600 jobs in a rural area? Will she meet me to discuss this, and will she help me in my campaign?”

The Prime Minister replied: “My hon. Friend is a great champion for his constituency, and he has been a great supporter of the CITB at Bircham. I am very happy to support his campaign; I wish him well, and I am happy to meet him.”

Henry went on to say: “In my experience it is actually very rare for the Prime Minister to do anything other than offer her sympathies and support, but for her to say she would actually help me with the campaign is quite exceptional.”
