Henry was absolutely devastated by the news that Cllr Cliff Jordan had passed away at the weekend. Henry said “Cliffy was a truly extraordinary individual who was an inspiration to so many younger politicians. Indeed, he had none of the advantages of a sixth form education and a place at university that so many of today’s youngsters take for granted. He reached the heights he did as leader of Breckland Council and Norfolk County Council through his own determination, courage and personality.
He was a man of total integrity and fundamental decency; also what you saw is very much what you got. One of his great and endearing characteristics was the fact that he never allowed political and policy differences to get in the way of personal relationships. I have lost count of the number of times we disagreed over the King’s Lynn Incinerator debate, but this never affected the mutual respect between us.
He will be missed by vast numbers of people, not just across Norfolk but further afield as well. My heartfelt sympathies and prayers go out to his wife and family at this very difficult time.”
