Henry recently contributed to the short debate on Yemen and emphasised the current humanitarian crisis whilst also pushing for a new UN Security Council resolution. He also made it clear that the only way of solving this crisis is through a far-reaching peace settlement involving all of the key parties.
Speaking after the debate in the House of Commons Henry said: “What we are seeing in Yemen is an absolute tragedy, particularly as different civil wars within the main civil war are multiplying. It is always the poorest in the community and young children who are going to suffer most. As the UN “pen holder” it is imperative that the UK takes more of a lead. It is equally important that increased pressure is applied to Iran, because it is 100% obvious that Iran are using Yemen as a proxy for their ongoing dispute with Saudi Arabia.”
