MPs back British Sugar

On Tuesday 23rd October Henry Bellingham MP for North West Norfolk and the Rt. Hon Elizabeth Truss MP for South West Norfolk recently met up with British Sugar in Parliament to receive a full update on their current concerns.

Commenting Henry said: “It was a real pleasure to meet with British Sugar; our home grown sugar beet industry is a major contributor to the UK economy – working with 3,500 farmers across East Anglia and the East Midlands and supporting 9,500 jobs makes it an absolutely vital sector.  As Brexit negotiations move to trade, our sugar industry’s record of productivity and efficiency means they are very well-placed to compete with sugar producers around the world and thrive. Indeed, I very much believe that Brexit can be the beginning of a golden era for the sugar beet industry.”

Elizabeth went onto say: “It is Fantastic to support British Sugar, a global success story offering high skilled jobs and significant employment opportunities in South West Norfolk
