Transport Minister Visits A47

It was a great honour for King’s Lynn to have the Transport Minister, Jesse Norman MP, visit on Monday 19th March and it was excellent news that the Minister chose to help the A47 Alliance with their latest campaign.

The A47 Alliance’s current campaign is to see the dualling of the entire length of the A47, which I very strongly support.

The Minister was able to provide very firm assurances on the 6 schemes that have already been announced, amounting to £300million. These 6 schemes include a significant amount of dualling and will increase the amount of dualling to over 50% of the route.

Commenting Henry said: “I am very glad the Minister made firm commitments on these schemes. However, I was disappointed that the Minister could not give assurances that the route will be dualled along its entire length. After all, the original commitment was given back in 1988 in the ‘Trunk Roads to Prosperity’ White Paper. I did detect disappointment at the meeting for a lack of assurance and commitment from the Minister and that is why it is essential that we keep up the pressure.”
